Me: I love the way Dave keeps an eye on you and Harriet.
Nell: What do you mean?
Me: When we were walking by the river you decided to stay on the river bank so he checked you were fine.
Nell: Yes.
Me: And when Harriet went for a swim he watched out for her.
Nell: David is an extremely caring animal.
Me: He’s the Big Brave Beautiful Boy of the family.
Nell: He’s certainly the only boy.
Me: I don’t think he’ll ever be a man.
Nell: Of course not. He’s a Labrador.
Me: He’s the Peter Pan of dogs.
Nell: Well, I’m not Wendy and Harriet isn’t Tinkerbell.
Me: Harriet’s more of a Wendy and you have Tink’s temper.
Nell: Enough. Now, Owl Pacino flew in last night to say we should expect torrential rain today.
Me: Oh dear.
Nell: The llamas can’t be left in the field so they’re joining the larger animals in The Barn.
Me: Good.
Nell: And Babycakes Gillespie has parked his coffee cart in Kev’s garage.
Me: He’s not going to get many customers over there.
Nell: He’s not selling coffee today. He’s having an American breakfast with the Hoffmanns.
Me: Pancakes with maple syrup and fried eggs with crispy bacon?
Nell: Yes.
Me: And limitless coffee?
Nell: Of course.
Me: Can I have my eggs sunny side up?
Nell: Are you invited?
Me: I live here.
Nell: Did you book?
Me: I didn’t know I had to book.
Nell: I suppose we might be able to fit you in after the first sitting has had its fill.
Me: Is Dave in the first sitting?
Nell: He is.
Me: Forget it then.
Nell: Actually he’s saving a seat for you.
Me: Really?
Nell: Did you think we’d forget you?
Me: I did. Sorry.
