Me: Nell, have you got time for a quick chat?

Nell: No.

Me: But people miss you Nell, and Dave and Harriet.

Nell: Why have you chosen that photo?

Me: I thought it was sweet and it shows how much Dave has grown. He is as big as you and he is only 4 months.

Nell: I was trying to have a quiet moment on your bed away from all the packing when those puppies joined me.

Me: I can see you aren’t happy but Dave looks worried too.

Nell: David knows full well what he did.

Me: What did he do?

Nell: He knows.

Me: Are you all looking forward to Devon? I can’t wait. Just imagine walking along the cliff tops gazing out at the sea with the wind in our hair.

Nell: Have you been watching Poldark again?

Me: No. It’s set in Cornwall anyway.

Nell: Doc Martin then?

Me: That’s Cornwall too.

Nell: The Coroner? It’s set in Hope Cove. Your favourite place.

Me: Stop it.

Nell: You have though, haven’t you?

Me: Not really.

Nell: Wind in our hair. Good grief.

Me: Nell, I need your help.

Nell: Can’t you see I am resting?

Me: Yes, sorry.

Nell: So what is it?

Me: Well, you know we are moving to Devon soon?

Nell: Yes.

Me: To be near the sea.

Nell: You don’t have to sell it to me.

Me: Kev and I were trying to work out who goes where on the journey down. We will have at least two cars with people helping.

Nell: I am with you and Kev, obviously.

Me: And the puppies?

Nell: David and Harriet will be with me.

Me: And Poppy?

Nell: Poppy has to be with me.

Me: What about Mutley?

Nell: He can’t be on his own.

Me: That’s five dogs.

Nell: I know.

Me: In one car on a long journey.

Nell: Your dogs.

Me: I know.

Nell: Your family.

Me: Yes.

Nell: Family stick together.

Me: Yes.

Nell: Always.

Me: Yes, always.

Nell: It will be fine you know. We will be fine.

Me: Yes.

Nell: As long as we are together.

Me: Yes.

Nell: I need to be alone now, though.

Me: Yes, sorry.

Nell: Dave and Harriet just told me something very interesting.

Me: Did they?

Nell: Apparently they are Autumn Winners.

Me: Oh.

Nell: And will be receiving a present.

Me: Yes.

Nell: Because people love their photo.

Me: Yes, I entered it in a competition.

Nell: I see.

Me: It’s really lovely that they were chosen isn’t it.

Nell: Yes. You didn’t enter any photos of me then?

Me: No, not this time.

Nell: So there have been other times?

Me: Yes.

Nell: When I didn’t win?

Me: Well, yes.

Nell: I see.

Me: You are always a winner to me, Nell.

Nell: Nice try.
