A Sunny Sunday

Me: My pocketful of happiness is definitely our walk by the river. We had such a wonderful time.

Nell: Yes, I enjoyed it immensely.

Me: You’re not very good at Hide and Seek.

Nell: What do you mean?

Me: I could see you hiding behind that tree.

Nell: I couldn’t see you.

Me: You couldn’t hear me, either.

Nell: I was busy on my sniffari.

Me: And then you went paddling in the river.

Nell: It was cool and refreshing.

Me: I saw your tail wagging and when you came out you climbed back up the river bank with no trouble at all.

Nell: I was invigorated.

Me: Wonderful.

Nell: Now, the winning photo of David should be in today’s Growl on Sunday.

Me: Yes. There it is. Doesn’t he look handsome?

Nell: Very. Where are your running shoes?

Me: I don’t have running shoes.

Nell: Didn’t you get the memo?

Me: No.

Nell: Sunday Songs is all about running because today is the London Marathon.

Me: I wondered why the Welsh Corgi Choir were wearing lycra and headbands.

Nell: I’m afraid lycra really isn’t for corgis. I tried to tell them.

Me: They look rather sweet.

Nell: Several of the Whippets Institute are taking part in the London Marathon.

Me: So is Dee Blue who I knew as a child when I lived in Africa.

Nell: Good for her.

Me: She’s a big fan of yours.

Nell: Most kind.

Me: We aren’t going to have to do any actual running, are we?

Nell: Certainly not. A stroll along the river bank and a paddle in the river is quite enough for ladies of our age.

Me: That’s a relief.

Nell: Watching the highlights on television after a delicious Sunday roast will round off the day nicely.

Me: Yes. Sorry.
