Nell: Yesterday was a very difficult day for you, wasn’t it?
Me: Yes, it was.
Nell: You have talked it over with me and Kev and your sisters.
Me: I have.
Nell: And you’ve decided to share what is going on in the hope it might help someone.
Me: Yes, and because my followers are like family to me.
Nell: Yes they are and I know they feel the same way about you.
Me: I’m very lucky to have such wonderful support.
Nell: Would you like me to tell them what has happened?
Me: Yes, please. I’m finding it difficult to talk about.
Nell: Yesterday Sara went to see her doctor about a mark on her skin that she felt had changed.
Me: I’ve had it for a long while now and thought it was a sunspot.
Nell: It turns out that it is almost definitely skin cancer. Malignant melanoma.
Me: Yes.
Nell: Tests still have to be done to confirm this and the next few weeks are going to be busy with hospital visits.
Me: They are.
Nell: And I know you won’t mind me telling people that you are very frightened.
Me: I am. But if me posting this means that even one of you decides to get a suspicious mole, or mark checked out then it is worth it.
Nell: Yes, and that’s why we are sharing this today.
Me: Yes. Don’t put it off. Get it checked. If you’re worried about anything please go and see your doctor.
Nell: I’m very proud of you for doing this.
Me: I don’t know why. I’m a complete mess.
Nell: Sometimes letting people know you are scared is the bravest thing you can do.
Me: Yes. Sorry.
Nell; I think we both know there is no need for sorry.
