Me: I just want to say thank you to everyone for your overwhelming support. I can’t even begin to tell you how much it means to me.
Nell: Yes, it has been a huge comfort.
Me: It genuinely has. I feel humbled to be honest.
Nell: I told you we would all be here for you.
Me: I know you did. When I woke up this morning I re-read all the messages and it honestly warmed my heart.
Nell; Good.
Me: I’m going to fight this, Nell.
Nell: I know you are. And we’re all by your side.
Me: I was worried I might appear self indulgent with my post yesterday but fortunately nobody saw it that way.
Nell: Of course they didn’t. It was a brave thing to do.
Me: They were just amazing, Nell. So much love and good advice.
Nell: Yes, you are surrounded by a very special group of people.
Me: Talking of special people, I’m so glad Tony is back from his holiday.
Nell: Yes. I think David shed a few tears but Tony was able to comfort him.
Me: Darling Big Brave Beautiful Boy. He doesn’t like to see me sad.
Nell: And it was good that you FaceTimed with your daughter Alice.
Me: Yes, and accidentally with Chris in Toronto.
Nell: You disturbed him in a meeting.
Me: We didn’t realise we’d phoned him.
Nell: But you still got to see him. If only briefly.
Me: Yes, I did.
Nell: Now, you haven’t been eating so Poppy is preparing a light afternoon tea to tempt you.
Me: How kind.
Nell: Sandwiches with the crusts off and a cake.
Me: No scones?
Nell: Of course there will be scones. Poppy would never serve tea without scones. The mere idea.
Me: Yes, you’re right. Sorry.
