Me: I wish you wouldn’t wake me like this.
Nell: Like what?
Me: Dave putting his face right next to mine and then you all lined up waiting beside him.
Nell: We have news.
Me: I don’t think I can cope with news after yesterday.
Nell: It was a beautiful funeral.
Me: The sight of Emma, The Queen’s pony, with her scarf on her saddle and then her corgis Sandy and Muick waiting for her at Windsor.
Nell: Yes. So, PC Panda was here this morning.
Me: Nice of him to pop by.
Nell: It wasn’t a friendly visit.
Me: How odd. He’s usually such a cheerful chap.
Nell: He came here on official business.
Me: Oh dear.
Nell: He’s arrested Rupert.
Me: PC Panda’s arrested Knitwear Wolf?
Nell: That’s what I just said.
Me: Has he gone mad? Rupert would never do anything bad.
Nell: I agree.
Me: What’s he supposed to have done?
Nell: Aided and abetted a known criminal to escape.
Me: Who?
Nell: Lady Anwen.
Me: No.
Nell: Remember how you said you saw him taking a Veiled Corgi away in his sidecar?
Me: Yes.
Nell: It was Lady Anwen.
Me: So she’s been here the whole time?
Nell: Yes, until a few days ago.
Me: But what about the one who likes poached eggs?
Nell: It was Eggs Benedict to be exact.
Me: Same thing.
Nell: It most certainly isn’t. Eggs Benedict are served on an English muffin with a slice of ham and covered in Hollandaise sauce.
Me: Fine, but where is that Veiled Corgi?
Nell: Downstairs about to be unveiled.
Me: By Dave?
Nell: Yes. David has Come to a Decision. He needs to act now.
Me: I agree.
Nell: Well, get up then, we need you as a witness.
Me: Yes. Sorry.
