Me: Good morning from sunny Toronto.
Nell: I want a word with you.
Me: It’s lovely to see you and Dave enjoying the activity field.
Nell: Stop changing the subject. I’ve seen the photos.
Me: It was even better than it looks.
Nell: Am I right in thinking that you recklessly travelled in a small boat right into the watery depths of Niagara Falls yesterday?
Me: I had to have the Niagara Falls Experience, Nell.
Nell: Did you?
Me: Yes. It was one of the most exhilarating things I’ve ever done in my life. I loved it.
Nell: You said you wouldn’t do anything foolish,
Me: I was absolutely safe. They knew what they were doing.
Nell: You were soaking wet.
Me: Yes, but look, I’m smiling.
Nell: I can’t believe you did that.
Me: I’m so glad I did. It was a long journey and we didn’t get home until really late last night but it was truly amazing.
Nell: Well, I’m glad you enjoyed yourself but don’t do it again.
Me: I can’t promise you that.
Nell: You fly to Berlin tomorrow, don’t you?
Me: Yes, I’m going to have to say goodbye to Canada and Chris and Shannon.
Nell: It’s not going to be easy.
Me: No, but it’s time for them to relax and enjoy married life now with Marvin.
Nell: I agree. It’s been a very busy time.
Me: It certainly has.
Nell: And you will be there for Faye’s first day of school.
Me: I will.
Nell: Are you flying with Air Canada?
Me: Yes, not via Iceland.
Nell: It’s a shame they don’t fly via Devon. You could have popped in to say hello.
Me: Now, you’re being silly.
Nell: We miss you. There’s nothing silly about that.
Me: Of course not. Sorry.
