Only One Day To Go

Me: Good morning. How are you today?

Nell: It’s afternoon, but I’ll let it go.

Me: Not here, it isn’t.

Nell: So, only one day to go before the wedding. How is everyone doing? It’s nice to see Alice and the children, by the way.

Me: Excited and a little tired. It’s much hotter today.

Nell: You’ll perk up after a cup of tea and some cereal.

Me: Yes. Chris is coming over for breakfast. He and the groomsmen are going out to the Toronto Islands for the day.

Nell: Make sure he wears a hat and puts on sunscreen. We don’t want a sunburnt groom.

Me: Don’t worry. He’s had his instructions from the multiple women in his life.

Nell: Multiple women?

Me: His wife-to-be, mother and sister.

Nell: I’m not surprised he’s going to the Islands.

Me: We’re just looking out for him. You’re the same.

Nell: True. What are your plans today?

Me: Last minute preparations for tomorrow and a pre-wedding drinks party this evening.

Nell: Do you have your wardrobe sorted?

Me: Yes. I’ve put all my clothes away.

Nell: I was talking about what you’re going to wear this evening. The Cat was asking.

Me: I’m wearing the blue dress Kev likes.

Nell: Good. Send photos if you can.

Me: Talking of photos, I see my Big Brave Beautiful Boy is sitting in my chair.

Nell: David’s been banned from the kitchen after Eating by Mistake.

Me: It can happen.

Nell: Herr Hoffmann says the roasted chicken had two legs when he placed it in the refrigerator.

Me: Oh dear.

Nell: David claims the leg fell off when he was reaching for a carrot.

Me: Maybe it did?

Nell: This was clearly Eating by Intention. No mistake about it. Stop defending him.

Me: Yes. Sorry.
