Nell: It’s the First of May today.
Me: It’s also Local Election Day. Is Dave standing for mayor?
Nell: Mayors have to be elected onto the council first.
Me: Oh yes.
Nell: Besides, the village has never had a mayor and David only just arrived here so we need to give it time.
Me: But when the time comes I’m sure he will do well.
Nell: Yes. Anyway, it’s the first of the month.
Me: You already said that.
Nell: So you know what you must do.
Me: Share the website where people can support my writing with a cup of Earl Grey?
Nell: Exactly.
Me: It’s https://buymeacoffee.com/saramartin.
Nell: Thank you. That wasn’t so hard, was it?
Me: I wish I didn’t have to do this.
Nell: You post a new conversation every day even when you’re stuck up in London. A cup of Earl Grey is not a lot to ask for.
Me: I suppose it isn’t,
Nell: Well, then.
Me: I’d like to say a big thank you in advance to all of you who support me. I’m truly grateful and it really does make a difference to our small economy.
Nell: It does. Moving on, our days of involuntary vegetarianism appear to be over now you’re home.
Me: Yes, we’re having fish for dinner.
Nell: Fish?
Me: I missed eating fish terribly while I was away.
Nell: You could have eaten it in London.
Me: It seemed right to wait until I was back by the sea again.
Nell: I’m not fussed about fish.
Me: I’m sure you’re all enjoy it.
Nell: I suppose being a pescatarian is one step closer to eating meat.
Me: I happen to know we’re having spaghetti bolognese tomorrow. With real bolognese.
Nell: Why didn’t you tell me that before?
Me: Sorry.
