Me: This is a very sad day.
Nell: Yes, it is.
Me: The Queen has always been a part of my life.
Nell: She has for most people.
Me: Even though I knew it was coming it’s still hard to believe she’s gone.
Nell: As I’ve told you many times before she hasn’t really gone. She’s watching over you all like she always did.
Me: I know the monarchy isn’t for everyone but I like to think we will all mourn her passing.
Nell: I jolly well hope so. Not for everyone, indeed.
Me: What an amazing woman she was. Determined to carry out her duties until the very end.
Nell: Of course. It’s what one does as Queen.
Me: She had such a love of animals. Especially, horses and dogs.
Nell: Why bring horses into it?
Me: They were her passion.
Nell: Nonsense, we dogs were her true love. The last time I took tea with her you could hardly move for corgis.
Me: The Welsh Corgi Choir must be devastated.
Nell: They are but it’s not going to stop them singing. Can’t you hear them?
Me: Yes. That’s fine with me. Have you spoken to the Royal Corgis yet?
Nell: Yes. Rumour has it that Lady Anwen may be allowed out of prison to join in the mourning.
Me: Really?
Nell: Hopefully not. She’s a bad animal.
Me: It’s strange to think we have a king now.
Nell: Yes. King Charles III.
Me: Imagine losing your mother and having to immediately take over the crown.
Nell: It’s what The Queen had to do at a very young age when her father died.
Me: And she did it so well.
Nell: Yes, she did.
Me: I’m a bit teary today, Nell. Sorry.
Nell: No need for sorry. Not today.
