Nell: That’s our new walk.
Me: Yes, it is. Look at you cheeky animals.
Nell: We have to drive hours and hours to get there.
Me: No, we don’t, Nell. It’s only 15 mins away.
Nell: The old walk was 5 mins away.
Me: I know but the land has changed owners so we have to wait to ask the new owners if we can walk there again.
Nell: I have another question for you.
Me: Oh dear.
Nell: Why do Harriet and I have to wear boys’ collars?
Me: There is no such thing anymore as a boy’s collar, or a girl’s collar.
Nell: Rubbish. Gladys has a pink sequinned collar. You wouldn’t see Knitwear Wolf wearing it.
Me: You wouldn’t see Knitwear Wolf ever wearing a collar. He’s a wolf.
Nell: The Cat wouldn’t agree with our collars.
Me: That’s because it only wears diamond collars.
Nell: It’s a diamond choker, not a collar. Do keep up.
Me: Anyway, I thought you liked the new walk. It’s much longer and there are loads of places to explore.
Nell: I’m a creature of habit. I don’t like changes.
Me: Well, I’m afraid life is full of changes. Especially at the moment. So let’s just make the best of it.
Nell: If one of the changes is you giving me sensible advice then we need to stop that right now. It’s all wrong.
Me: It is, isn’t it?
Nell: Yes. It’s most disconcerting.
Me: I was right though, wasn’t I?
Nell: You were. Stop it. You’re doing it again.
Me: What?
Nell: Being wise and sensible.
Me: Gosh. Yes. How unlike myself.
Nell: Well, I would like the real you back now, please.
Me: Maybe I should host Morning Thoughts today?
Nell: Now you are being ridiculous.
Me: Yes. Sorry.
